Digital Dynamic Propeller Balancing

Key BenefitsPropeller Balancing

  • Reduces wear on engine, prop, spinner and bulkheads
  • Prolongs the life of exhaust system
  • Extends the life of the instruments and avionics
  • Increases passenger comfort
  • Increases engine efficiency and performance
  • Works on both fixed and constant speed propellers
Propeller balancing reduces vibration levels by balancing the propeller, spinner, and spinner bulkheads to the engines rotating components. Lowering of vibration levels will prolong the life of rotating components of the engine and propeller on your aircraft. The most noticeable benefit will be an immediate improvement in a smoother flight. Balancing is performed on the aircraft without removing the propeller. When a digital dynamic balance is performed, a small vibration sensor is mounted on the engine to measure vibration level produced by an out of balance condition of the rotating components. A photo tach is also mounted on the aircraft to determine true engine RPM. We use the handheld computer for processing both signals as the engine is run at cruise RPM. The computer readout provides the calculation of position and amount of weight required to be added to the spinner back-plate in order to achieve a proper dynamic balance. Generally the whole procedure takes about 2-3 hours and is priced at $250.00 for single engine aircraft.
